Satta Sarmah has worked for various media outlets, including the Orlando Sentinel, CNN and Everyblock.com. She is currently a local editor for AOL’s Patch.com, a hyperlocal news and information sites that serves several communities across the country.
Satta received a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in Chicago. She concentrated in new media and learning alternative and innovative ways to present news and information to the public. She attended Boston University and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism, with a concentration in magazine journalism. She has also worked for the London bureau of CBS News, Working Mother Magazine, and the Columbia Journalism Review.
Her work has appeared in Chicago-area newspapers such as the Chicago Defender, the Chicago Journal, Austin Weekly News and the Northwest Indiana Times. She hopes to some day own a media company that uses innovative approaches, in online and print, to target and present information to people whose stories aren’t told often in the mainstream media.
